Trevor Mason (AKA DJ Mace) was born in Toronto and moved to Kingston at a young age. By the age of 12, he and a close friend started taking up the art of DJing and by the age of 15, inspired by the music scene that he grew up with in Toronto, DJ Mace brought that fresh new movement to major establishments in Kingston.

He was influenced by his older cousins who were DJs in Toronto and Queens NY, as well as his father who was a musician and key member of Grenada’s and Toronto’s Caribbean music scene.

DJ Mace moved to Ottawa in the early ‘90s to attend Algonquin College.

He first inched his way onto the music scene with the grass-roots approach of creating and selling his mixtapes, which stirred such a buzz that he caught the attention of other local DJs, night club owners and promoters, soon after he joined forces with David Mason (D-Train), Caanan Lauzon (DJ Kane) and Richard Dixon (MC Richniques) to form the legendary Ebony & Ivory Soundcrew.

Ebony & Ivory began putting on large-scale events, playing at local nightclubs and travelling across the country, drawing thousands of people at a time.

From the very beginning of his career, DJ Mace knew the importance of Marketing and Promotions, which he continues to excel at.

Trevor Mason (DJ Mace) is one of the most sought after entertainment personalities in Ottawa and is the go-to man for many of the industry’s top business leaders and brands.

Nordstrom, H&M, Ted Baker, adidas, Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Hudson’s Bay & Nordik Spa are just a few of the names that have leveraged Mace’s musical expertise for their product launches and special events.

Mace has been credited for playing alongside artists such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Premiere, Starting From Scratch, DJ Enuff, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Digable Planets, Biz Markie, Tony Touch, Kid Capri, De La Soul, Red Alert, Beenie Man, Sean Paul, Snoop Dogg, Choclair, Karl Wolf, Kardinal Offishall, Saukrates, 2 Live Crew, Vince Carter, Tommy Davidson, Jully Black, Bell Biv Devoe, Crystal Waters, Zhane, Cameo, Maestro Fresh Wes, RL, Dru, Russell Peters, Sanchez, Walshy Fire, Kerwin Du Bois, Lil Rick, Edwin Yearwood, and many other international and local entertainers.

Mace has a collection of accomplishments and achievements, including winning a Pioneer DJ Stylus Award for Ottawa’s Best DJ, 8 years as the Mix Show DJ on Hot 89.9 FM – Ottawa’s #1 hit music station, Owner of Ebony & Ivory Lifestyle, Creator of Rewind – Canada’s #1 Old School Party, founder of Talented Kids Ottawa Non-Profit Organization, co-Owner of Bananas Beach Grill & Rum Shack and President of Carivibe Ottawa Caribbean Carnival.

With his new position as event director for The DJ Group 6 – Canada’s premiere professional DJ booking agency, which specializes in retail, corporate, weddings, nightlife, hospitality, sporting events, brand ambassadors, customized mixtapes and a DJ School, Mace is looking forward to many more years of doing what he loves to do!
